chemical properties | light yellow needle crystal or crystalline powder. Melting point 213 ℃ (decomposition). Easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in organic solvents. |
use | used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and an analytical reagent. used as pharmaceutical intermediate pre-column and post-column derivatization reagent for fluorescence detection of metal ions |
production method | obtained by sulfonation of 8-hydroxyquinoline. The fuming sulfuric acid was cooled to below 10 ℃ under stirring, and 8-hydroxyquinoline was gradually added to keep the temperature below 15 ℃. After adding, the temperature is increased, and the reaction is stirred below 30 ℃ for 5 hours. Leave overnight. The next day, put the reaction liquid into 8-10 times the amount of water (calculated by 8-hydroxyquinoline), control the temperature to 60 ℃, precipitate crystallization, and then leave it overnight. Filtration, washing and drying at 100 ℃ to obtain 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid. 87% yield. |
